Care

Shoe care

LWG leather, an ETPU sole and Hevea rubber last for years when cared for. Here is a short guide: what to do before the first wear, every day, and what to avoid.

Before the first wear

Treat with a water-repellent spray

The simplest step that noticeably extends the life of your pair — especially in white.

01

Get a spray

A water-repellent spray for natural leather. Any brand will do.

02

Apply to clean shoes

Test on a hidden area first. Then apply a thin layer over the whole surface.

03

Let it dry

12–24 hours at room temperature. Repeat every 4–8 weeks.

Every day

Three habits

01

Brush

After a walk, remove dust with a soft brush before it settles into the leather.

02

Damp cloth

Wipe fresh dirt with a damp cloth. Don't rub hard.

03

Foam once a week

Shoe foam and a soft brush for tougher marks.

White leather

It can get dirty — that's normal

White leather darkens and picks up dirt over time. That's a property of the material, not a defect.

Before the first wear, treat your pair with a water-repellent spray for natural leather — any brand will do. Dirt is easy to remove with shoe foam and a soft brush. Do not use abrasives, chlorine or a washing machine.

LWG leather

Cream and spray

  • Leather cream — 1–2 times a month, neutral
  • Spray — before the first wear and every 4–8 weeks
  • Soft brush — for dust and dry dirt
  • Don't dry on a radiator — leather cracks
  • Don't use solvents — they destroy glue and coating
  • Don't store damp — smell and mould

Sole and insole

ETPU, rubber, Memory Foam

Sole

Rinse with water and mild soap, then brush. Don't use solvents or abrasives — they damage the ETPU and rubber structure.

Insole

Remove, air and dry separately. Don't machine wash or soak — Memory Foam loses its shape.

Drying and storage

Keep the shape

01

Paper or inserts

Crumpled paper or cedar inserts absorb moisture and hold the shape.

02

Room temperature

Dry at room temperature, away from radiators and direct sun.

03

Dust bag

Store in a dust bag so the leather doesn't collect dust or fade.

What not to do

Five mistakes

Don'tWhy
Machine washLeather and sole deform
Dry on a radiatorLeather cracks and loses elasticity
Scrub with abrasives or chlorineCoating and colour are damaged
Use solventsGlue and the protective layer break down
Store dampSmell and mould appear

FAQ

The short version

How often should I treat the shoes with spray?

Before the first wear, then every 4–8 weeks — more often if the shoes often get wet in rain or snow.

Can I use a regular shoe cream?

Yes, a neutral cream for natural leather. Apply a thin layer and let it absorb.

What about white salt stains?

Wipe with a damp cloth. If stains remain, use a salt stain remover or shoe foam, then dry at room temperature.

Can I wash the insole?

No. Remove it, air it and dry it separately — Memory Foam doesn't like water or machine washing.
